Erasmus+ at the University of Vienna

Welcome to the information website for Erasmus+ Incoming students!

Within the Erasmus+ programme, students from Erasmus+ partner universities are entitled to study at the University of Vienna for one or two semesters. The prerequisite for this is that there has to be an Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) with the partner university assigned to the relevant field of study and the student must be nominated for an Erasmus+ stay at the University of Vienna by the partner university.

Information Summer Semester 2020

Until the end of June, no courses/exams with student attendance will take place at the University of Vienna. Teaching will instead take place in the form of remote learning (particularly via e-learning). In practical terms, this means that the buildings at all university locations remain closed for teaching purposes and that no events involving external persons will take place. The International Office too does not offer personal consultation. You can find further information and updates here.

The University of Vienna supports all incoming students to finish their semester successfully. If you want to cancel or intermit your Erasmus+ stay at the University of Vienna nevertheless, please contact the Erasmus+ incoming team (, your lecturers at the University of Vienna, and your home university. Please save any documents which confirm your entry into and departure from Austria (for example your residence registration confirmation, flight / bus / train tickets).

Information Winter Semester 2020/21

Although preparations for the winter semester 2020/21 are currently proceeding as planned, we should all be aware of the impacts COVID-19 may have on future mobilities.

We encourage you to consider the possibility of postponing your stay at the University of Vienna to the summer semester 2021. To do so, please contact your home university to discuss this option and your Incoming Team at the University of Vienna. Should postponing your stay not be an option for you, we recommend to refrain from financial obligations as far as possible.
