The International Office offers international mobility programmes for students, such as Erasmus+ study-abroad semesters, Erasmus+ internships, and research stays abroad. We also enable researchers and teaching staff to participate in international mobility programmes. Through university partnerships and networks, we strengthen international academic exchange.

Apply now for a semester abroad outside Europe
Students can now apply for study abroad semesters at our non-European partner universities in the 2027/28 academic year. New to the program: the University of Tokyo (Japan).
Target group: students of bachelor’s, master’s and diploma programmes (from the third semester onwards for Bachelor's or Diploma degrees, completed STEOP)
Duration of the stay: one or two semester
Application deadline: 15 October 2026 -
APPLY NOW: Mobility Fellowships
The University of Vienna’s Mobility Fellowships support research stays by University of Vienna researchers at Strategic Partner Universities and selected partner institutions, with the aim of deepening collaboration, conducting joint research activities, and developing external grant proposals.
Target groups: University of Vienna Professors (Full, Associate, Assistant) and third‑party‑funded Senior Scientists with a permanent position
Duration: 2 - 8 weeks
Application deadline: 4 November 2026 -
APPLY NOW: Chicago - Vienna International Grant Program
Seed funding for research-oriented networking meetings (seminars/workshops/events) between researchers from the University of Chicago and the University of Vienna, held in Chicago, Paris, or Vienna.
Target groups: University of Vienna professors (o., ao., Ass.-Prof., Assoc.-Prof.); postdocs and PhD students
Application deadline: 4 November 2026
