Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training (academic staff)
Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training supports training activities and professional development at higher education institutions or non‑university organisations in an Erasmus+ Programme Country. It focuses on peer exchange with international colleagues and on developing skills, methods, and techniques relevant to day‑to‑day work. The programme is aimed at academic university staff (excluding university lecturers) who are employed with the University of Vienna for at least 20 hours per week.
Conference participation is not eligible for funding under Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training.

Key facts
- Target group: Employees of the academic university staff (excluding university lecturers) who are employed with the University of Vienna for at least 20 hours per week
- Duration of the stay: 2-5 days
Travel days (max. 2) are only funded for stays of less than 5 days (only 1 travel day is funded for stays of 4 days) - Application deadline: Applications are possible at any time. Please submit your application at least six weeks before the planned stay.
- Funding: Reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs; a maximum of EUR 150 is reimbursed per night. Please be aware that costs for training fees are not covered.

Possible destinations
- Training mobility is possible both at universities and at non-university institutions such as companies and research institutions located in the Erasmus+ programme countries.
- Erasmus+ programme countries:
- Member States of the European Union
- North Macedonia, Iceland, Norway, Serbia, Liechtenstein and Türkiye
Before applying
- Enquire about the availability of Erasmus+ funding for staff mobility via staffmobility(at)univie.ac.at.
- Obtain the consent of your superior to participate in the Erasmus+ staff mobility scheme.
- Contact the relevant institutions directly to enquire about the possibility of a training placement and agree on a suitable programme.
Application procedure
- Please complete the Mobility Agreement:
- This Mobility Agreement must then be signed by the host university and the head of your department.
- Please send the fully signed Mobility Agreement as a scan by e-mail to the international office at least six weeks before the start of your stay.
Approval of the application
- The International Office will check the Mobility Agreement. If it is approved, we will then send you the Grant Agreement.
- Please sign the Grant Agreement and return it by e-mail to the International Office before (!) the start of your stay.
- Please make sure you submit an application for a leave of absence for research purposes as early as possible. This leave of absence must be approved before the start of your stay in order that the travel costs can be reimbursed.
During and after the stay
- Please obtain a confirmation of stay on the last day of your mobility and send the original by post to the International Office. We will provide you with the relevant form.
- After the end of your stay, please fill out the Erasmus+ online report. You will automatically receive an e-mail with the link at the end of your stay.
- Please submit your request for reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses via HRFI (Q-Flow app: Expense Reimbursement – Travel Expenses).
