Welcome Reception Winter Semester 2019
Welcome to the University of Vienna!
On October 8, around 300 international exchange students, who just arrived in Vienna, gathered at the “Welcome Reception” in the historical Small Ceremonial hall.
Nearly 700 incoming students start their exchange semester at the University of Vienna these days. At the reception representatives of the University officially welcomed them.
Erasmus+ students and Non-EU Student Exchange incomings were warmly welcomed by Barbara Good, Head of the International Office, who shared her personal experience as a former exchange student.
Siina Karbin from the Student Mobility Team hosted the evening. Especially at the beginning of the semester, she and her colleagues from the International Office support the incoming students with advice and practical help.
Tamara Bachmann und Mariella Simon invited all exchange students to join activities of the Erasmus Student Network. ESN gives incoming students the possibility to get in contact with local students through their Buddy network and offers social events for incoming students.
Krzysztof Rentflejsz, incoming student from the University of Warwick, is excited about his upcoming time as an exchange student and looks forward "to spend a semester in the most liveable city in the world".
Ingeborg Sickinger, Head of the Alumni Association, invited the incoming students to events at the University and presented a welcome package for the students.
After the official opening, the informal part of the evening started with a buffet.
