Welcome reception for international exchange students, summer semester 2019
On 13 March 2019, the welcome reception for all international exchange students of the summer semester, organized by the International Office, took place. Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs, Jean-Robert Tyran, greeted more than 150 exchange students in the Small Ceremonial Chamber of the University of Vienna.

Karin Krall, Head of the Student Mobility Team, hosted the evening. Especially at the beginning of the semester, she and her colleagues from the International Office support the incoming students with advice and practical help.

Anna Theis invited all exchange students to take part in the Erasmus Student Network. ESN gives incoming students the possibility to get in contact with local students through their buddy network and offers social activities for incoming students.

Carolin Krahn from the Department of Musicology, spoke on behalf of all mobility coordinators. "Be like a sponge!" – she encouraged the students to soak up as much as they can during their exchange semester and to collect memories which will last forever. Based on her personal history, she pointed out the importance of experiences abroad nowadays.

Aino Jankari, Finnish incoming student from the University of Turku, feels privileged to spend her semester abroad in Vienna. She has chosen the University of Vienna because of the large selection of study fields and wants to improve her German skills during her stay. She finished her speech with the quote: "Since life is short and the world is wide, the sooner you start exploring it, the better"

After the official opening, the informal part of the evening started with a buffet.
