Course description
The Circle U.-Lecture series: ‘Natural Hazards, Vulnerability and Disasters: Interdisciplinary Perspectives’ takes place as part of the extension curriculum for Bachelor students at the Department of Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna. In the summer semester of 2025, the lecture series is an official Circle U. course, open to incoming BA students from Circle U. partner universities for online attendance.
This lecture series aims to provide in-depth knowledge of various areas of natural hazards, vulnerability and disasters and to strengthen an interdisciplinary perspective. International experts have been invited to give an insight into their research.
The lectures will be held in English. NOTE: The programme presented may be subject to change at short notice.
The respective experts will present their individual topics in lectures of approx. 45-60 minutes and will then be available for questions and discussion for a further approx. 30 minutes.
Assessment and permitted materials
The online exam will contain multiple-choice and open questions.
Besides the respective slides of each lecture, in case the lecturer has consented to the upload, additional thematic material will be provided on moodle.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The individual point and evaluation key will be provided before the exam.
Examination topics
Basically, all questions can be answered based on the slides of the individual lectures.
