Admission of participants

It is possible to have external students admitted to the University of Vienna as non-degree seeking students by the International Office, if they require the following services during their univie: summer/winter school:

  • Access to all IT services of the University of Vienna (u:space, Moodle),
  • Grading as part of the course set up for your summer/winter school and
  • Official transcript of records (for credit recognition of earned ECTS at their home university)

Participants with active studies at the University of Vienna will also be admitted to the study programme "univie: summer/winter school".

The admission to the University of Vienna is a process consisting of multiple steps that the students have to complete within a three-week period (incl. course registration). You can find an overview of the admission procedure here:

For participation in an univie: summer school students will be admitted for the current summer semester, for participation in an univie: winter school for the current winter semester.

 

 

 Set-up of a univie: summer/winter school as a course

Your univie: summer/winter school has to be set up as a course with continuous assessment (in i3v and u:space) by the International Office. Student can register to the course via u:find and can be graded after the end of the summer/winter school by the lecturers.

In order to have your univie: summer/winter school set up as a course, please submit the completed Excel sheet below to summer-winter-schools@univie.ac.at.

A required course evaluation will be carried out at the end of the school - as for all other courses. You will receive detailed information by the International Office in due time via e-mail.

 

 

 Nomination of participants

All students (external and students of the University of Vienna) that require the services mentioned above have to nominated for admission through the Online Nomination Form in Mobility Online.

Please note: Only participants with active studies at a university can be admitted. Please inquire explicitly about their students status during the application process.

For all other participants (researchers without active studies, employees of universities and other institutions etc.) can receive a guest u:account in order to gain access to Moodle. Please contact summer-winter-schools@univie.ac.at in such a case.


Nomination in Mobility Online

For the nomination through Mobility Online you will need the following data of the students:

  1. Last name(s), first name(s) (as mentioned on ID card/passport)
  2. E-mail address of the student
  3. Date of birth
  4. Sex
  5. Study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
  6. Is the student currently an active student at the University of Vienna?
  7. Only for students with active studies at the University of Vienna: matriculation number

Note: Please ask the students for explicit consent to have their data processed. You can find a template by the International Office here.

You will received detailed nomination instructions via e-mail.

After being nominated, students have 3 weeks to complete the admission procedure.


Deadline for nominations

Please note that the nomination of students has to be completed at least 4 weeks before the start of your summer/winter school. Otherwise a timely admission cannot be guaranteed.


ÖH student fee

Students without active studies at an Austrian university have to pay the ÖH student fee. The students will not be able to pay the fee directly through u:space, but the fee has to be collected beforehand by the organiser of the summer/winter school (usually as part of the participation fees).

The ÖH student fees for all students will be booked collectively as an order to the Accounting and Finance service unit after all students of the respective school have been admitted provisionally. You will receive detailed information about the ÖH student fee payment via e-mail.

Afterwards, the students are fully admitted.
