New Vice Rector Jean-Robert Tyran welcomes incoming students of the summer semester 2018
On 9 April 2018, the welcome reception for all international exchange students of the summer semester, organized by the International Office, took place. The newly appointed Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs, Jean-Robert Tyran welcomed more than 100 exchange students in the Small Ceremonial Chamber of the University of Vienna.

Erasmus+ students and Non-EU Student Exchange incomings gathered in the Small Ceremonial Chamber of the University of Vienna and were warmly welcomed by the new Vice Rector Jean-Robert Tyran. The Vice Rector advised the students to study hard, be curious and be open. He encouraged the students to seize this unique adventure abroad and take the opportunity to make it the time of their lives.
Lottelis Moser, Head of the International Office, hosted the evening. Especially at the beginning of the semester she and her colleagues from the International Office support the incoming students with advice and practical help. The International Office’s partner organization ESN gives students the possibility to get in contact with local students through their buddy network and offers social activities for incoming students.
Dr. Cláudia Fernandes from the Centre for Translation Studies, spoke on behalf of all mobility coordinators and encouraged the students to contact their coordinators whenever they have difficulties or problems. She pointed out her own experiences, coming to Vienna as a young researcher and encouraged the students to be ambassadors of their home country.
Thaís Morgado, Non-EU Incoming from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro was very excited when she got accepted to study at the University of Vienna. In an entertaining and personal way she outlined why Vienna is a fantastic destination for her semester abroad.
With the opening of the buffet the informal part of the evening started.
